Food is one of the six resources in Cossacks 3.

Background[edit | edit source]

All the units in your state require food. Always make sure you have enough food, for if you run out of it your units may starve to death. You must arrange a food supply first of all. Food can be obtained from the land or from the sea. Also be careful on a land map as an enemy raid could threaten your food supply and that can lead to a snowballing effect as it will affect your military capabilities and your civil populace.

Procurement[edit | edit source]

Food is produced either at farms (created by building a mill and assigning workers to the fields once the grain is ripe yellow, that is) or by building boats at the shipyard and sending them out to fish. A cheap upgrade available from the start at the mill increases crop production by 40% and can make a world of difference early on.

Strategies[edit | edit source]

The most important resource in the game, bar none. Always make sure you have a net surplus of food and not just by a sliver. Otherwise, any disruption in the food supply will cause your people to slowly die. Diversify, too: It's harder for attackers to wipe out farms and fisheries at the same time.
